Shoes Make a Mark on Others

Footprints of Michigan Imagine what boys in an underserved Ugandan village could do with a new set of soccer cleats. Consider how homeless seniors right here in Michigan could get some relief and support with walking shoes.

These situations are not hypothetical: These are people who have actually been served by Footprints of Michigan. The nonprofit has seen incredible success in recent years. In fact, in 2019 alone, they sent out 12,691 pairs of shoes to individuals in need across the globe.

It’s an amazing feat, especially considering they only got started as recently as 2014. Founded and run by Geronimo Lerma III after he witnessed the joy a young homeless man experienced when he gave him a pair of gently used shoes, the organization has been replicating that feeling for so many more people ever since.

How Can I Make a Difference?

If you want to help Footprints of Michigan in their mission, there are so many ways to get involved. They accept donations of all types of footwear: new or gently used and mud-free without holes in the soles or body. If you have an extra pair of any of the footwear below lying around the house, consider donating them!

Your donated shoes may be distributed within your local community or elsewhere in the state of Michigan. Footprints of Michigan also accepts monetary donations in person, online, or over the phone.

If you can volunteer your time, Footprints of Michigan will gladly accept! They always need people who can clean footwear and volunteer at fundraisers and other special events.
