There are times in life when you just don’t know what to do, or how you’re going to make it through. You may have experienced a traumatic event that’s having an impact on your life. You may be lying awake at night grappling with anxiety or depression. You may feel like your world is spiraling out of control while you stand by helplessly, with no one there to understand or offer support.

Seeking help can be hard but it can make all the difference in the world. A New Hope Counseling Center in Lansing provides professional and supportive psychotherapy services for people in need.

About A New Hope

Hope for families

The center takes a decidedly holistic approach to improving and maintaining your mental wellness. The man behind the practice is Dr. Ronald D. Fandrick, a dedicated professional with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field. When he was a child, Dr. Fandrick’s mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia and institutionalized. This difficult experience sparked and fueled his determination and desire to truly understand people and how they think and operate.

Dr. Fandrick believes very strongly in three main principles: self-reliance, self-determination, and self-discipline. Not only did they help him through those challenging times during his childhood, but they’ve also served him well throughout his career. He strives to empower people with the knowledge and skills to tackle their issues. He is dedicated to helping them get successful long-term results, rather than quick fixes.

The Services

The qualified and experienced therapists at A New Hope offer treatment for a wide range of conditions/issues. These include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, addiction, disability issues, eating disorders, and many more. They provide individual, group, and family counseling, grief and loss counseling, as well as marriage/relationship counseling.

Their Methods

Counseling Options

Dr. Fandrick firmly believes that seeing a therapist is very different from seeing a medical doctor, and your experiences during your visits should reflect that. At the center, clients are given the tools and encouragement that are necessary to help them become more self-reliant, to essentially and eventually become their own therapist. This is done through a process known as Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Therapists encourage clients to become more familiar with the process. They often provide helpful resources such as articles, listening materials, books, and links to websites to help them to take the proactive role that they need to take in their treatment/recovery.

They learn about and identify therapy goals and methods, along with their level of efficiency and possible side effects. They are able to point out what they need to work on, and this fosters a stronger sense of confidence and determination. This method has a positive track record with solid results.

The Techniques

A New Hope is committed to helping clients to change the longstanding destructive patterns of thinking and behavior that have hindered them from enjoying full, well-balanced lives. Therapists use a variety of techniques to accomplish this. They assign exercises and projects and encourage clients to keep records throughout the process, all with a view towards achieving the ultimate goal of emotional wellness.
