Chevrolet Silverado Wheel Alignment

Chevy Silverado Wheel Alignment Service

Chevy Silverado Alignment Service in Lansing, MI

While connected by various parts, the four wheels that keep a truck rolling ultimately operate independently. The wheels of a truck must be aligned and re-aligned occasionally due to a variety of factors. Whenever a truck's suspension system is upset, whether it be from a sudden bump, large curb, or even a wheel change, the wheels can become misaligned. Wheels that aren't appropriately aligned can create several problems for a vehicle as time passes. A vehicle with an improper alignment faces quicker deterioration of its parts due to increased stresses on the vehicle's suspension system. From the factory, trucks, and parts are designed for certain specifications. When a vehicle's parts begin to become misaligned, they can start to transfer more weight and pressure onto other parts on the vehicle. Over time, a number of these parts can begin to fatigue, resulting in part failure.

Two-Wheel Alignment vs. Four-Wheel Alignment

Not all alignment jobs are the same. There are two-wheel alignments and four-wheel alignments. When drivers have a four-wheel alignment done, all four wheels of the vehicle will be aligned with one another. Two-wheel alignments only align the front two wheels. Not every vehicle will need a four-wheel alignment.

You can perform a quick check in an open area to see if your Silverado's wheels are aligned properly by slowly driving in a straight line and removing your hands from the steering wheel. If your Silverado has a proper alignment, then the steering wheel will remain straight, and the truck will not pull towards any direction. If you have to fight with the steering wheel as you drive or notice that your Silverado is pulling to one side during your test, then your truck's suspension system may be out of alignment. If you notice that the tires on your Silverado are wearing out quicker than normal or wearing out unevenly, then it may be time to have the wheels realigned.

Additionally, if your Silverado suddenly begins to feel rough, or if parts like your steering wheel are vibrating more, then the wheels may be losing their alignment. Violent vibrations and biased-steering are certain signs that you will need to have an alignment job done on your Chevy Silverado.
